Malaya Eskrima is predominantly a weapons based martial art. Its origins are from several Filipino martial arts. Malaya Eskrima teaches single stick, double stick, dagger, stick & dagger, and empty hand techniques in a progressive manner. The ultimate goal of Malaya Eskrima is to enable the student, should the need arise, to use the techniques in a real life situation to defend themselves or loved ones. Stick sparring, although optional, is an integral part of Malaya Eskrima to ensure that the student reaches the final goal which is to be “Malaya” or free. In addition, students will learn about Filipino history, cultural, and vocabulary. Padded weapons are always used by beginners during sparring. This system is limited to students of 13 years and older.
